Personal Transformation

After I published my first book, The Human Experience, in June of 2011. I was very excited to finish a twenty year project. The excitement was soon replaced by anxiety about what I should do now. It became more challenging each day to continue my 10 year career in sales. Deep inside me, I wanted to follow my passion, which was not what I was doing at the time, in hope that it would lead to a feeling of greater purpose for my life. My twins were only a few months old. Like so many people I knew, I was faced with a choice. I could be “responsible” and continue working my safe, secure job or I could follow my heart. It took over a year, and thank goodness my heart won! I left security for freedom because I understand the value of teaching my children about heart-based thinking. It was unsettling to me, that they could easily follow in my footsteps using the “deferred lifestyle method” of working hard for 40 years to enjoy life after retirement. After a year of planning and preparing, and with my wife’s huge support, I took the leap of faith. I can’t even remember a time when I have felt so free and confident that I made the right decision to do what was in the highest good for me and my family. This journey in taking the “leap” came from an unexpected group of talented people.

On September 11, 2011, I was attending the Hay House Movers and Shakers conference in New York City. The previous day, I had met one of my greatest role models and inspirations, Louise Hay. Also leading the conference, the President and CEO of her publishing company, Reid Tracy and best-selling author Cheryl Richardson were sitting on stage right in front of me. I was so excited to be surrounded by 120 amazing individuals. We were there for two and a half days to learn from the leaders of the personal empowerment industry; how to thrive while sharing our messages with the world. I felt exhilarated by the energy in the room. I had no idea how much that day would ignite the fire inside me and accelerate a huge transformation in my life.

I learned so much from the conference. I knew I had to make some major decisions in order to move forward, but Renee and I did not make any hasty decisions. We put much thought and planning into my transition. Renee was the one who first suggested that I be a life coach. I was not very familiar with the term. My belief was that only rich people hired life coaches. I started to “think” about it a lot. It was not until I started to “feel” about it that I knew I would be a coach. It fit nicely with the theme of my book, offered me an opportunity to help others, and lit a fire of “vocational arousal” deep within me. I knew I was on the right path. To be sure, I decided to take an introductory coaching course. Still working a full time job, it was an overwhelming thirty day boot camp. I loved it! The more I learned, the more I knew that I was moving in the right direction. The fire inside me grew from a small campfire to a giant forest fire.

I spent a year learning about coaching, practicing my skills, and cultivating relationships, while Renee built our infrastructure. Diving into high intensity coaching courses attracted high intensity, highly motivated individuals into my life. I discovered that building strong relationships is the keystone of our business. I found myself surrounded by people who were following their passion to help others. Many people around the world have spent time, money, and energy on personal development. This is why I decided to create the Transformers Mastermind to share the pool of knowledge and wisdom we have earned from our experiences. The Personal Transformation Summit is a free buffet of self growth teleconference workshops from eighteen caring and sharing coaches, authors, and wellness professionals.  All the amazing coaches involved in this project are dedicated to personal development as a means to social change. We have all come a long way.

Thank you for being on the journey with us this far. We have a long way to go to and many more lives to affect. I look forward to sharing the path that we are forging together. For now, I am grateful for where we are and most important the people in my life that have been and will be helping me throughout my journey.
