Mark:
Back in 2013, I had no idea a single conversation would reshape not just my business but the trajectory of our life’s work.
I was attending the Wealthy Visionary Conference, Maya (Marcia) Weider’s event, when Cynthia Kersey took the stage. She shared how she created the Unstoppable Foundation, a nonprofit organization that brings education, clean water, and sustainable living to communities in Kenya.
But what struck me most wasn’t just what she built, it was why she built it.
Cynthia spoke about what she calls The Generosity Effect, the transformational power of giving from the heart, not out of obligation or for a tax write-off, but from a place of pure purpose and love.
She reminded us that generosity isn’t just about changing the lives of those you give to, it changes you. It expands what’s possible. It unlocks your capacity to lead, to love, and to live in alignment with your soul.
It didn’t just move me.
It activated me.
You know those moments that stir something ancient in your soul? That whisper, This is why you’re here?
That was one of those moments.
After Cynthia spoke, I found myself in conversation with her husband, Blaine Bartlett, one of the most grounded yet visionary leaders I’ve ever met. He introduced me to a term I’d never heard before:
Compassionate Capitalism.
He described it as a model where business becomes the delivery system for love, dignity, and a thriving world. Where profits serve people, not the other way around.
Renee:
I remember when Mark came home from that trip. He wasn’t just inspired, he was clear. Something inside him had clicked. It was the beginning of a new chapter, not just in his business, but in ours.
From that moment forward, every decision we made as entrepreneurs was filtered through a new lens: How can our work serve the greater good?
Mark:
The next morning, at the Unstoppable Gala in Beverly Hills, the ripple continued to expand. Over breakfast at the Crowne Plaza, I ended up at a table with Bob Proctor, Sandy Gallagher, and their assistant. A simple hello turned into a shared meal and one of the most soulful mastermind conversations I’ve ever had.
Forty of the top online marketers and thought leaders in the personal development space had each raised $25,000 through their events and communities, enough to build a school and a well in Kenya. Ten of us had each contributed $5,000 personally to spend the day in a private mastermind with them, Bob, and Cynthia.
It wasn’t just strategy, it was sacred. And it forever changed the way I thought about entrepreneurship.
Renee:
That experience planted a seed.
That seed eventually grew into MetaMind, more than just a mastermind, it's a community built on the principles of conscious leadership and aligned, purpose-driven growth.
Mark:
The framework of Conscious Capitalism, coined by John Mackey, founder of Whole Foods, has four core pillars. Each of them has guided the way we live, love, and lead in MetaMind.
Let’s walk through them.
1. Higher Purpose
Mark:
“Profit is not the purpose. It’s the result of aligning with something bigger than ourselves.”
In MetaMind, we don’t just ask, What are you building? We ask, Why?
Our members are heart-centered leaders building businesses that are extensions of their soul’s mission. Whether they’re trauma-informed coaches, conscious tech creators, or healers, their work is purpose-first.
Renee:
With clarity and alignment, business becomes more than income, it becomes impact. And that’s when it really gets fun.
2. Conscious Leadership
Renee:
“We lead from wholeness, not hierarchy. From listening, not control.”
Our community doesn’t run on guru culture. We lead by example and by presence. We create safe containers for real conversations. We honor the vulnerability it takes to grow.
Mark:
Leadership in MetaMind means showing up fully, not perfectly. And it’s why we say, “We grow together.” It’s not a tagline, it’s a truth we live.
3. Stakeholder Orientation
Mark:
“It’s not about squeezing the most from your clients or team, it’s about uplifting everyone your business touches.”
In MetaMind, we don’t just coach or consult, we collaborate. Through integrated partnerships, our members co-create offers, events, and impact. No competition. No extraction. Just shared value.
Renee:
One of our greatest joys watching our members thrive together. Abundance flows when values align.
4. Conscious Culture
Renee:
“Culture isn’t what you say, it’s what you practice when no one’s watching.”
Culture is the invisible current of your business, and in MetaMind, that current is built on trust, truth, and transparency. It’s felt in how we welcome, celebrate, and support each other.
Mark:
It’s curated through rhythm, ritual, and relationship. We don’t just teach spiritual alignment, we practice it.
Where Compassion Meets Consciousness
Mark:
Blaine once defined Compassionate Capitalism like this:
“An economic model for ensuring that the workplace of today and tomorrow allows individuals, organizations, society, and the planet the opportunity to thrive in a generative and sustainable manner.”
He added:
“Business has a unique and primary responsibility in uplifting the quality of all life on the planet.”
That’s not just philosophy. That’s a call to action.
Renee:
And it’s the call we answered when we created MetaMind.
Every Love Seat. Every Genius Bar. Every Soulful Leadership Retreat. Every hard conversation and sacred celebration, it all stems from this root.
Mark:
That moment in 2013 wasn’t just a highlight, it was a turning point.
It reminded me that the most impactful leaders aren’t chasing wealth, they’re circulating it.
They’re not sacrificing values for growth, they’re growing because of their values.
Mark and Renee:
That’s what Soulful Leadership means to us.
It’s doing business with heart. It’s saying yes to leadership rooted in love. It’s choosing purpose over ego, and compassion over control.
If you’ve ever felt your business calling you to something deeper… it is.
Let’s keep building businesses that heal. Let’s keep rising in community, in consciousness, and compassion.
Let’s keep leading with soul.
