Renee:
As you’re reading this, our MetaMind Mastermind Retreat is happening right now.
If you’ve ever led an event or been responsible for making something big happen, you know how much energy it takes. I love it, the planning, the food, the details, the flow. It’s my zone. Mark calls me the “Retreat Goddess,” and honestly, I’ll take it.
But it’s a lot.
We’ve got 21 people joining us this weekend, and with our twins in school, I've been driving back and forth for the first few days before staying on-site for the last two nights. It’s a whole dance between mom life and mastermind life.
Last night, after finishing up the prep and finally sitting down, I caught myself thinking: “I need a vacation after this.”
And then I remembered, in three weeks, Mark’s going on a cruise.
Yes, it’s technically business, but let’s be honest, there’s a fair amount of play happening there too.
For a minute, I felt salty. Then I paused. Instead of sitting in that feeling, I asked myself:
“Okay, what do I need?
What would feel restorative for me?
What would best serve me right now?”
Because this isn’t just about marriage, it’s about partnership, with our work, our families, our dreams, and ourselves. It’s about noticing when we’re pouring out more than we’re filling back in.
Mark:
One of the things I’ve learned is that balance doesn’t always look equal in the moment. Sometimes one person or one part of life requires more energy, and that’s okay.
What matters is awareness. Recognizing what your partner, team, or even you are carrying, and making space for rest, recovery, and appreciation.
I see how much Renee gives during these retreats. And while I know she loves it, I also know she deserves her own space to recharge. Whether that’s a weekend away, a solo day off, or just a long exhale, it matters.
Renee:
That’s where I am right now, figuring out what refilling my own cup looks like. Maybe it’s a weekend alone, maybe it’s time with friends, maybe it’s something simple like a quiet morning with no expectations.
I’m giving myself permission to need it, plan it, and take it.
Because this isn’t just about being a couplepreneur, it’s about being human. We all go through seasons where the scales feel uneven. What matters is catching it before resentment builds and giving ourselves what we need to come back to center.
So here’s the invitation:
Where are the scales feeling uneven in your life right now?
And what small step could you take this week to bring things back into balance?
Because the truth is, you don’t have to do it all. You have to remember to care for the person who’s been doing it all.
